    Polar SPE

All the phases on this page extract analytes from non-polar (typically solvent) matrices using polar retention mechanisms.

The strength and selectivity of retention varies with sorbent type and matrix (solvent) characteristics.

Polar phase with enhanced capacity for acidic analytes.

Polar, neutral phase, extracts electron rich aromatic compounds or those containing N, O, P & S heteroatoms.

Polar phase with enhanced capacity for basic analytes.

Retains analytes via dipole-dipole interactions.  Good for analytes that are difficult to elute from other polar sorbents.

Retains analytes via hydrogen bonding and dipole-dipole interactions. Weaker retention than SI.

An alternative to SI medias. Minimal retention of basic compounds. Activated for separation of chlorinated pesticides.

Highest capacity for polar interactions. retains analytes via hydrogen bonding, dipole-dipole and weak cation exchange interactions (if trace water is present).

Retains analytes via hydrogen bonding and dipole-dipole interactions.

Retains analytes via hydrogen bonding and dipole-dipole interactions.
