Reversed Phase PhyTip columns are used for automated desalting or cleanup of protein and peptide samples before mass spectrometry analysis. PhyTip columns perform this step with the consistency, ease and scalability that go hand-in-hand with automation. With the high capacity and by recovery in mass spectrometry compatible solvents, Reversed Phase PhyTip columns is the optimal choice in developing a fluid sample preparation workflow before mass spectrometry analysis. Reversed Phase PhyTip columns bind a wide range of protein and polypeptide sizes. The absolute binding capacity is high with a low loss of smaller or more polar polypeptides.
PhyNexus now part of Biotage developed the the PhyTip column in 2002 and have supported researchers with automated protein purification ever since. PhyTip columns purified samples by repeated back-and-forth cycles - a process called dual flow chromatography - allowing complete binding interactions in each purification step for excellent protein purification results.
Our unique column design with a packed resin bed results binding of the entire sample to a small resin bed volume. The purified sample can be eluted in small volumes, resulting in a highly concentrated sample.
Sample cleanup by reversed phase PhyTip column is one step in a complete, streamlined automated protocol for preparation of protein samples for analysis by mass spectrometry.
Reversed phase PhyTip columns can be used for purification of 96 samples in as little as 15 min.
Our PhyTip columns are available for all major liquid handling platforms to enable you to use your existing system that you may already have in your lab for automated protein purification.
Biotage offers PhyTip® columns packed with different types of reversed phase silicas for all major liquid handling systems. C18 columns are more hydrophobic than C4 columns providing outstanding sensitivity and high efficiency binding of peptides. C18 silica is available in both 900 Å and 300 Å pores for differential selectivity of peptides and protein fragments. Due to the higher polarity of C4 silica compared to C18 silica, the selectivity of the C4 silica is increased for more polar molecules.
If you are not sure which PhyTip® column will that work best in your protocol, our specialists are here to help you.
