Job Overview

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to be part of a dynamic operations team in our Salem, New Hampshire facility. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the purchasing function, while managing inventory levels, consistent quality, cost reduction and vendor relations.

Essential job functions are:

  • Manage the purchasing process ensuring requirements for quality, on-time delivery and pricing at met.
  • Develop and execute strategic procurement activities to constantly improve the effectiveness of the supply chain.
  • Optimize vendor performance by using proven negotiation strategies.
  • Establish, manage and maintain strong and resourceful relationships with vendors.
  • Identify, measure, manage and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Understand Kanban purchasing. Promote this method with the vendor base to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Track vendor performance.
  • Day to day management of purchasing personnel.
  • Develop KPIs and cost analysis.
  • Perform root cause analysis when issues arise and implement action plans to prevent further occurrences.
  • Manage inventory for end-of-life product lines.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality and Production teams on opportunities for quality and cost improvements. 

Job Requirements 

  • BS degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business management 
  • 5 years of experience as a Purchasing Manager in a manufacturing environment 
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings 
  • Strong Excel and database skills 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills 
  • Ability to work and lead within a cross-functional environment 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
