Biotage® Initiator+ SP Wave is a versatile and programmable synthesizer that can perform microwave assisted synthesis of both peptides and organic compounds. The system delivers an industry-high 300 °C temperature and safe 30 bar pressure, making this a versatile instrument choice for any lab. It can be used as a standalone peptide synthesizer or easily converted to a high-end MAOS system. Ideal for the synthesis of peptides, peptidomimetics, PNA and for organic, medicinal, materials, nano and polymer chemistry applications.

Versatile

In peptide synthesis mode, the Initiator+ SP Wave becomes a powerful development tool for chemists synthesizing peptides and peptidomimetics, including difficult modifications and labeling of sequences, by using single or multi-step procedures. The intuitive Initiator software controls the instrument functions and by using the pre-defined methods, synthesis can be started immediately.

By using microwave irradiation and standard reagents, this system can synthesize difficult sequences that are problematic or even impossible using conventional methods.

Complete Control

The instrument functions are controlled directly on the touch screen interface. Deprotection and washing steps are automated, while adding activated building blocks is manual. With this approach, intermediate reaction steps are easily monitored – failure of which would only be identified upon completion of the synthesis.

Reduce Costs

The semi-automated operation reduces the consumption and waste of expensive reagents such as PNA monomers or glycoamino acids that can occur in other systems due to priming or use of large dead volumes. Manual addition of exact reagent amounts minimizes waste. Save even more by benefiting from the ability to perform synthesis on a small scale from as low as 5 μmol.

Dual Mixing Mode

Peptide synthesis mode uses efficient vortex mixing within the microwave cavity to ensure homogeneous heat distribution. In organic synthesis mode with much higher temperature and
pressure, magnetic stirring is now employed for efficient mixing.
