Account Manager, Italy

Biotage is looking for an Account Manager, based in Italy, to manage sales of our market-leading Flash Chromatography products, Microwave-based Organic and Peptide Synthesisers, unique-featured Evaporators and all associated consumables.

The successful candidate should have a strong commercial background and will be responsible for the development of the territory and business, in line with company and regional goals and objectives.

The Account Manager in Italy belongs to EU Commercial Operations - a Sales and Service team within Europe with around 40 employees.

Job Scope Outline

Front-line sales activities such as lead generation, prospecting, performing equipment demonstrations and giving presentations, negotiating and closing deals, as well as attending conferences and exhibitions will form a major part of the role. Full support will be provided through product and sales training, backed up by an active in-house marketing department. Biotage also has its own R&D department, ensuring we have new and innovative products to bring to market on a regular basis.

Excellent territory planning and a willingness to travel frequently (3-4 days per week, 1-2 day in home office) and conduct face-to-face customer visits will contribute to a prosperous assignment, as will accurate forecasting and a keenness to learn about market trends and the activities of competitors.

Customer interactions drive our business and we use Salesforce.com as our CRM to log customers, accounts, opportunities, service calls and marketing activities. 

Education and Experience

  • A good scientific background; minimum BSc or equivalent in a relevant life science area, preferably Chemistry
  • 3 – 5  years of sales experience within Big Pharma, Biotech, Academia or CROs

Required Skills

  • Experience working in a Chemistry lab would be an advantage
